Arc - Top Menu - option to not display the licenced user
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
It's a pretty universal problem in software design. There seems to be a school of thought that plastering the user's name all over a UI "personalises" the experience. I, however, see it as a privacy risk. Some are worse than others; Microsoft's idiotic display of a user's login name in a 300 point high font (along with their photograph) on the login screen of Windows 10 is probably the nadir of this stupidity, though at least they've toned the font size down a bit in Windows 11.
Cubewise is one of the better software designers at this, since the user name on Arc is in a very tiny font which is almost impossible to read over the user's shoulder unless Superman is feeling bored that day. Nonetheless, I don't really need a permanent reminder of who I'm logged in as or what my name is. Yes, there is an argument that if you have multiple logins you may need to see which one you're currently under, but what I'd like to see is not the complete REMOVAL of a user's name from the interface, merely the OPTION of removing it if you have no need of it.
MORE IMPORTANTLY... when I need to submit a video with a bug issue (as I did in #1599 (closed), for example), I would very much like that my e-mail address NOT be out there in public without needing to put some virtual plaster over it in post production.
Describe the solution you'd like
I would like an OPTION to toggle off the display of the Registered User, with users who want to see it still having that option.
Describe alternatives you've considered
Virtual sticking plaster over the video in post-production.
I also tried to see whether AdBlock Plus would block the element, but found that there would have been too much collateral damage to other elements on the page.
This isn't really critical since it's easy enough to work around, but it would be a "nice to have".
