Option to NOT add v in front of variable names when creating a process
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
"I'm always frustrated when [...]" I create a data source, which might be an SQL query, or it might be a text file. I set the headings EXACTLY as I want them so that I can use the same identifiers no matter what the consuming application is; Arc, Perspectives, SQL Server, Excel, whatever.
For example,
SELECT
fiscal_year AS vsFiscal_Year,
fiscal_month_number_name AS vsFiscal_Month_Number_Name,
mainaccountvalue AS vsMainaccountvalue,
ecc.
And what do I get as variable names in Arc?
vvsFiscal_Year
vvsFiscal_Month_Number_Name
vvsMainaccountvalue
ecc.
I'm aware that "stick a v in front of it" is a Cubewise standard. MY standard is to stick vs in front of strings and vn in front of numerics so that I have a "one glance" knowledge of the type of data that I'm dealing with. Arc can't automatically make this distinction, which is why I do it in the data definition.
I find the same prefix useful in other applications.
So why not just drop the "v" from my column definitions? Because of the afortementioned "use the same identifiers no matter what the consuming application is" requirement.
Describe the solution you'd like
I would like an option to be added for processes so that we can tell Arc NOT to automatically add a "v" tag in front of variable names.
Describe alternatives you've considered
Not adding a v in front of my column identifiers, but that wouldn't work for any consuming application other than Arc.
